At the Gate of Memory
Recent paintings & sculpture by Elizabeth Pols
“At the Gate of Memory” offers a series of paintings and sculptures of the Syrian city of Palmyra and of Italy’s Venetian lagoon. Those of Venice are created from firsthand observation by the artist; the Palmyran works are her re-imaginings of that city based on found materials, travel slides taken by an American woman in 1951, and then rescued 30 years later as they were being discarded after her death.
Exhibition dates:
September 12-December 16, 2016
Gallery Hours: M-F 8:30 am-4:30 pm
The Alumnae House Gallery
